I used the OCN colour conditioning henna with indigo powder for the first time and I am floored!

The paste came off easily as compared to simply henna.

My hair felt soft and conditioned whereas I always had to use conditioner after just henna as my hair would become unimaginably dry, even with egg added.

And the colour ladies!! A rich, luxuriant brown with just a hint of red and blue

Me and my sister used it together and we wish we’d discovered it sooner!!

Since OCN products are pure , l use rose water in “kheer n sweiyan”, gives good flavour and taste.
l also spray rose water on fresh roses also to my flower decoration also, it gives nice fragrance , when you enter the house. Works beautifully for me

I also use Cocoa shea butter and Jajoba oil for the last 5- 6 years and l look younger by 10 years , l don’t say people say .😄 Today l am 66 years old.

I have become addicted to this, gives me glow and shine to my face, specially when at night l go out for parties etc. Thank you OCN

Is Bleaching good for you?


Bleaching is best avoided. Its just an overdose of chemicals which often cause facial burns and cause stubborn pigmentation.

A natural lightning method is to make a paste with baby formula and rose water with a pinch of lemon juice.

Make it enough for one use and discard any leftovers. Use this as often as you need.

Lemon, Papaya and Tomato are some other excellent natural bleaches.. They lighten + brighten the skin in no time. Please be careful not to use them over cuts bruises and acne.

We need a mindset shift too. Why bleach to look fairer when the world is going gaga over the dusky India complexion?

Natural bleaching methods suggested above only bring out your true complexion… The beauty you were born to be😘

Exam Time Essential Oils

It’s exam time and we have started getting calls from parents and children about anxiety and panic attacks..
the first tip usually is to ask the caller to relax and take a deep breath 🙂

There are plenty of examples around us where parents push the kids beyond their capacity to vicariously fulfil some unfinished dream. It never works out this way so don’t do it.

The other thing is to remember that nobody will remember these grades 10 years from now so why sweat? How many of us remember grade 6 marks from 20 years ago? None , Im sure.
Focus instead on the child absorbing and retaining what is taught in class..and then creatively presenting it again

Here’s a little tip to improve focus and relax during exam could prepare it in advance and burn around the study room(for the kids) and the living space (for the tiger moms and dragon dads)😤

Smooth Sailing Focus Blend

8 drops grapefruit EO5 drops basil EO
5 drops bergamot EO
2 drops lavender EO

Mix together in a small dropper bottle (5 ml)


6 drops to a bath 3 drops on a wet washcloth, rub all over your body while showeringDeep inhalations from a tissue/cloth or pocket squareAdded to an essential oil diffuser to fill your room

Calm and Concentrated Blend

Combine oils in a small dropper bottle (15 ml, 30 ml)



In a small non-reactive bowl add 2 oz of your favorite massage oil (argan, coconut,sesame, sweet almond, jojoba,grapeseed,macadamia)Next add 4-6 drops of your calm and concentrated blendMix well.Massage all over your body

In the bath: Add 4-6 drops to your bath

Inhalation: Add 4-6 drops to a cloth, tissue or fill a pocket EO inhaler with mixture, inhale deeply

Diffusion: Fill your aromatherapy diffuser with as much of the mixture as you’d like

Moringa The Superfood

The humble moringa or drumstick which is common in recipes like sambar is a miracle food..did you know this?

A recent study has shown that if you consume 7 gr. of moringa leaf powder for 3 months can reduce the blood sugar levels by 13.5%.

Almonds Ahoy!


If your mother pleaded with you every morning to eat your daily dose of soaked almonds, then she may have been right. Choosing between soaked almonds and raw almonds isn’t just a matter of taste, it’s about picking the healthier option.

Why soaked almonds are better – Firstly, the brown peel of almonds contains tannin which inhibits nutrient absorption. Once you soak almonds the peel comes off easily and allows the nut to release all nutrients easily.

How to soak? Soak a handful of almonds in half a cup of water. Cover them and allow them to soak for 8 hours. Drain the water, peel off the skin and store them in plastic container. These soaked almonds will last you for about a week.

Benefits of soaked almonds:

1. Help with digestion – Soaking almonds helps in releasing enzymes which in turn help with digestion. Soaking almonds releases enzyme lipase which is beneficial for digestion of fats.

2. Help with weight-loss – The monounsaturated fats in almonds curb your appetite and keep you full. So feel free to snack on them because they’ll help you avoid binge-eating and trigger weight-loss.

3. Almonds keep your heart healthy and reduce bad cholesterol (low density lipoprotein) and increase good cholesterol (high density lipoprotein).

4. They are a good source of antioxidants: Vitamin E present in soaked almonds works as an antioxidant which inhibits free radical damage that prevents ageing and inflammation.

5. Fight Cancer: Soaked almonds contain Vitamin B17 which is vital for fighting cancer.

6. Flavonoid present in almonds suppresses tumor growth.

7. Help in lowering and maintaining glucose levels and regulating high blood pressure.

8. Soaked almonds contain folic acid which reduces birth defects.

For busy ppl on the move, if u can’t have them soaked, have them raw or roasted in ghee and salt. Excellent snack for every age

Essential oils for PMS

Chamomile, rose and Jasmine essential oils are great for combating pms ..rub a blend on the small of your back and lower pelvic region.

Here’s a stronger remedy

PMS Bath Blend. I add 3 drops of clary sage, 2 drops of chamomile, 2 drops of geranium and 2 drops of lavender to a warm bath. Mixing these oils with 1/4 cup bath salt before adding to the bath will help keep the oils from floating on top of the water and will include the benefits of magnesium.
Dip the feet twice daily in this water to ease pain in joints and water retention

Are Dahi and Yoghurt the same thing?

Both are two separate products which are processed the same way. Both use separate bacterial culture hence differ in consistency and taste

Best is to change the culture or jag…..from your home. Neighbours home. Halwai .
You will get a different set of bacteria each time and your gut will be happily enriched!

The market dahi has less bacteria to give it a longer shelf life so does not set dahi so well …….until repeated often.
They use the remaining bacteria to sell pro biotic products to us.

The fact is thst yoghurt cant be made at is an industrial product and not suitable for smaller batches that we do at home.

The soreness of curd fulfils the need for the umami taste and improves appetite as well as digestion of eaten with jaggery. It prevents water loss from the intestines so it is recommended when you have loosies or even stress related intestinal issues

All’s not well with Dahi though. people with following type of issues should avoid it-liver, acidity or gastritis. Or even pitta disorders. Also try avoiding it at night as it ups the phlegm
